Who’s Behind

Briefly Written

A lawyer.

A writer.

A woman with a soft spot for sandy paws (and stories that feature them).

clerking for New York's Highest Court, the Court of Appeals

From Billables to Barristers

I’ve been a lawyer for nearly a decade, and, during that time, I’ve worn a few different hats.

I started in BigLaw as a litigator. I mostly did corporate defense work, but my firm had an incredible pro bono practice and I worked on a lot of criminal defense matters, too.

Then I spent some time in my firm’s London office. It wasn’t my first time working in London. During college, I interned for a criminal defense barrister. (No, I didn’t get to wear the wig)

When I returned to America, I clerked for the Chief Judge of New York’s highest court.

After that, I spent some time learning the other side of criminal law when I prosecuted cases in Manhattan.

From Law to Lore

I set out to explore as many corners of the legal world as I could.

And I did.

I loved the work. And I wanted to pass it on. So I transitioned to the classroom, where I now teach first-year law students how to think and write like lawyers, drawing on everything I learned along the way.

And now? I’m writing my debut novel. Because legal briefs aren’t the only stories I want to tell.

I created Briefly Written to share what I’ve learned—concise, actionable tips for legal and creative writers who want less noise and more clarity.

Whether you’re briefing a judge or building a world, I’ve got you covered.

Let’s write something that matters—briefly.
